The Wedding

5/26/12

Part I

After many people asking me about Keith & Elizabeth’s wedding, I eventually found the best way to describe it: fun. Now obviously yes, weddings are usually fun, but I truly mean this description. Not only did I and the rest of the bridal party and guests have fun, but the whole atmosphere of the day was fun and joyful. From traipsing around downtown, hanging out at the French market (where the bride even managed to spill coffee on herself and not freak out), to riding the el to the conservatory, the whole day was filled with casual day-to-day activities, but with fancier attire. Although weddings are super stressful and I’m sure Elizabeth had a racing stream of thoughts about everything getting done, that was not the vibe I got from our lovely bride. Looking back, I think one of my favorite parts of the day was taking pictures on the bridge and walking around downtown because it was all so relaxed and was a time to stop and actually allow yourself think about how joyous and happy the day is. After riding the el to the conservatory, the beautiful ceremony took place outside and the same atmosphere of fun continued with much laughter and the Green Line rumbling in the background. The reception was absolutely beautiful and (alert: this next part is corny) filled with love. Everybody was having a good time and celebrating the bride and groom. There was delicious food (most notable: the potato), fun raptor dance moves, and amazing amazing cake. Although I’m so sad the wedding has come and gone, I am excited to have a brother in-law and to have been able to celebrate with them. I’m excited for their new life together and wish them all of the best. Love you guys!

The Bridal Luncheon & Rehearsal Dinner

5/25/12

Good food, good laughs, and good conversation. That is how I would summarize the day before the wedding. The bridal luncheon was a good way to relax and hang out before the wedding day craziness. On the way to the rehearsal dinner, we had great and surprisingly lengthly conversations about topics such as salad dressing, corn nut-less road trips, dinosaurs, and pie. At the rehearsal, Jen, Amy, Abby and I coined the phrase “no pants, no problem” and thus it became the motto for the wedding weekend. The rehearsal dinner was on the rooftop of Plymouth restaurant and included further discussion about dinosaur-related topics. Good day.

The Bachelorette Party

5/19/12

Elizabeth’s bachelorette party was so much fun. From chair dancing to penis cakes to illegally using ID’s, I’m pretty sure many bachelorette party requirements were fulfilled that night. We started out with some chair dancing at Dance Spa and spent the majority of the time laughing, while still trying to attempt some sexy chair dance moves. Afterwards, we had a Mexican fiesta dinner (with delicious margs, thanks to Michell) and the (absolutely delicious hummingbird) penis cake made its appearance. The night ended at Small Bar where I dabbled in my first ID rendezvous; there were 2 Abby Toms’ in attendance at the bar that night. Overall, a solid bachelorette night.

Also to be mentioned: you wear a feather boa while walking down the street, you will be well received by a barber shop and be honked at numerously by passing cars. You may also be invited up to a creepy person’s “apartment” (please avoid this last one).

Confessions

My name is Hannah… and I love to take pictures of food. Any food. Every food. My first recollection of this obsession is photographing my famous taco dip years and years ago. (Side note: I shall photograph it the next time I make it).

However, how can you not photograph BEN & JERRY’s GREEK FROZEN YOGURT!? Simply refreshing. Simply delicious. I love you, greek frozen yogurt.

Sophomore year.

What a year. I learned about myself, loss, and friendships. I survived the “knee incident”, organic chemistry, and an un-air conditioned dorm room. It was a tough year and I won’t miss some parts of it (8am orgo? Adios!) but I will definitely miss a lot of it. I’ll never forget the obnoxiously loud dance parties Jen and I would have (I sincerely apologize for the continuous Moves Like Jagger playing, third floor), walking down to Lucy and Ami’s room to discuss anything from bras to religion, and the fear of the cage-less sprinkler. Here’s to junior year and hoping it brings even more memories and laughter !

Things

The things that I so dearly wish I liked… but I don’t:

Chemistry

Running

Dark chocolate

Today was apparently “kitchen fiesta” day. Spent all day in the kitchen attempting to make these for Elizabeth’s bachelorette party, and ended up with a, well, improvised version. These things take time, dedication, and some serious cookie cutter talent. In the end, the only pinata-ness of these cookies is the color and the horse shape. But, it was worth a try and they taste the same anyways! Might add some frosting to them and M&M’s to fancy them up a bit. We shall see… Que sera !
